Kevin Sorbo's attorney: Client didn't run Bridgehampton estate as for-profit party house
The attorney for actor Kevin Sorbo says his client never allowed his Bridgehampton estate to be used as a for-profit party house by a tenant who is now fighting such allegations by Southampton Town.
Sorbo's 5-acre estate came under scrutiny last month, when town officials secured a court order barring a Manhattan company, Stadiumred, and its owner, Claude Zdanow, from hosting a three-day party on the property, which Zdanow has rented since 2012.
Southampton Town Attorney Tiffany Scarlato has alleged that Stadiumred and Zdanow have been hosting for-profit events at the estate this summer, which is against the town code.
Zdanow said last week that he was unaware that a Manhattan company called IvyConnect was selling tickets to the three-day event, and said he did not operate the estate as a for-profit enterprise.
Sorbo, who starred in the television series "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" in the 1990s, owns the house through a corporation, his attorney said.
The attorney, Anthony Conforti of Southampton, obtained a court order last month temporarily barring Zdanow from having any parties on the property that violate the town code, and is seeking to make the order permanent.
Zdanow's lease specifies the 772 Middle Line Hwy. estate will be used as a "private dwelling, only by the tenant, the tenant's family, employees and nonpaying guests" and that any "special events" at the site adhere to town laws, according to a copy provided by Conforti.
Stadiumred describes Sorbo's 12,500-square-foot house on its website as the Stadiumred Estate, and calls it "the ultimate lifestyle property" and also "a pop-up event series in the Hamptons where luxury brands acquire an organic synergy with an influencer audience for unique exposure."
Scarlato could not be reached for comment Tuesday. Zdanow's attorney declined to comment on Conforti's actions in court.
