The Village of Lindenhurst has hired a consultant to help with its security camera system.
The village has hired Suffolk Lock Security Professionals Inc., of Lindenhurst, to conduct an assessment of the village’s security cameras and write up a proposal for improvements. The village has agreed to pay the company no more than $2,000 for the work.
Clerk-treasurer Shawn Cullinane said the village has about a dozen cameras in areas such as the marina and village square. However, he said, and they are not on a centralized system and several of the cameras do not work.
“The system needs to be upgraded,” he said.
Cullinane said the cameras are helpful in combating vandalism and property damage.
