Marc Fishman, a senior at Great Neck South High School is the Nassau County Scholar Artist for February

Marc Fishman, a senior at Great Neck South High School, has been playing the piano since age four and currently studies at the Manhattan School of Music. Marc has performed at notable venues throughout the Metropolitan area, including Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.  In April 2012, Marc won First Prize in the Long Island Philharmonic’s Young Artist Competition, and made his orchestral debut with the Philharmonic at its 2012 gala at Oheka Castle in Huntington.  He is also is a three-time winner of the Young Musicians Program sponsored by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

Marc is a straight A student, a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist, an AP Scholar with Distinction, and a four-time National Latin Exam gold medalist.  He is President of his school’s Community Outreach Club, Treasurer of its Chamber Orchestra, and has performed on piano and clarinet as a member of the school’s pit orchestra.  Marc has attended summer music programs at the Eastman School of Music, the Brevard Music Center, and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute.

Marc volunteers after school at COPAY (Community Organization for Parents and Youth), gives piano lessons to local elementary school students, and has performed for residents of the Atria Senior Living Center in Great Neck, and St. Mary’s Children’s Hospital in Bayside.
