The Massapequa Park Village Board on Monday night appointed William Colfer to fill a vacancy on the planning commission.
The board also scheduled a hearing on increasing the commission from five to seven members. Mayor Jeffrey Pravato said the board feels it would be easier to obtain a quorum with a larger planning commission.
Colfer fills the commission seat vacated when Richard Begandy resigned in July after he was appointed to fill a vacancy on the village board. That opening was created by Pravato being named mayor to fill the vacancy created when James Altadonna Jr. was appointed Oyster Bay Town clerk.
