New bus stop at Walt Whitman Shops
Bus riders headed to Walt Whitman Shops in Huntington Station will disembark at an all-new transit area at the mall on Monday.
The new bus stop, which features eight bus shelters at the south end of the mall property, includes a dedicated walkway to the mall and will alleviate the congestion at the current bus stops in front of the mall along Route 110, said Deborah Weber, general manager of Walt Whitman Shops.
HART, Suffolk Transit and NICE buses will use the new stops at the mall, which is a major transfer point for Suffolk lines.
The stops were moved as part of the mall’s plan to add roughly a dozen new shops and restaurants to its frontage along Route 110.
