72°Good Morning

A pharmacy in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn was a one-stop shop for a stunning array of illegal drugs and guns and also the source of a Medicaid fraud that attempted to bilk the system for $9,000 in phony prescriptions, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney.

Five people, three of them employees of Malik Pharmacy at 2981 Fulton St., were arrested Monday as a result of the six-month investigation. Store security guards Charles "Slim" Payne, 52, of Bed-Stuy, and Jowen "Sean" Bellafonte, 25, of Cypress Hills, charged with numerous counts of selling narcotics and firearms, were being held on $50,000 bail each as of Wednesday. Robert "Green Eyes" Nunez, 31, and his wife, Ericka Nunez, 33, also of Cypress Hills, are also accused of selling cocaine. Nunez had bail set at $30,000 and his wife was released on her own recognizance.

Mohammed Amir Malik, 37, of Queens, believed to be the nephew of the pharmacy's owner (who was not charged), faces charges of impersonating a pharmacist and repeatedly buying prescriptions for popular asthma, antidepressant and antiviral drugs from an undercover officer in order to fraudulently bill Medicaid. He was released on his own recognizance.

Information regarding their lawyers was not available.
