A Mastic Beach man was arrested on Thursday morning for allegedly pushing someone onto the subway tracks near the Long Island Rail Road's Jamaica station last week, the NYPD said.
Arrested and charged with assault was 30-year-old Joshua Massaro, the NYPD said in a news release.
The victim, a 39-year-old man, was pushed on May 22 at 4:40 a.m. onto the southbound tracks of the E train at the Sutphin Boulevard and Archer Avenue subway stop, which is near the LIRR's Jamaica station. He was hospitalized in stable condition. His name wasn't disclosed.
As of early evening, the state's online court database didn't have information about when Massaro would make a first court appearance in the case.
The New York Times reported earlier this year that people were pushed onto the subway tracks in the city at least 25 times, compared with 20 times five years earlier.
