A JetBlue plane from Phoenix was being inspected Tuesday after crew members reported it might have been struck by lightning just before landing at Kennedy Airport, a spokeswoman for the airlines said.

Flight 180, with 151 passengers and five crew members, landed safely at Kennedy at 7:06 a.m., spokeswoman Sharon A. Jones said in a news release.

The crew of the Airbus A320 had requested that emergency vehicles meet its plane as it landed "reports of a lightning strike" and a smell of smoke in the cabin, the JetBlue release said.

After landing safely, the flight taxied to its gate at 7:22 a.m.

Passengers got off the plane normally and there were no injuries, the release said.

Jones said no other details regarding the incident were available.
