New on DVD & Blu-ray: 'Hotel Transylvania' and more
'Hotel Transylvania'
I'm conflicted. On one hand, this animated movie about Dracula, who builds a hotel to protect monsters from the townsfolk, is directed by expert animator Genndy Tartakovsky, who did "Dexter's Laboratory." On the other hand, it features the voice of Adam Sandler, who made "Jack and Jill." The result of this amalgam is a decent flick that is a bit cringe-worthy. But Tartakovsky is a legit talent. (DVD $30.99, Blu-ray/DVD combo $40.99, Blu-ray 3-D/Blu-ray/DVD combo $55.99)
'Die Hard: 25th Anniversary Collection'
'The Cold Light of Day'
Get a super dose of Bruce Willis with a collection of all the "Die Hard" movies, which will give you diminishing amounts of pleasure as you go sequentially through the sequels. Then check out one of Willis' latest films, with soon to be "Man of Steel" Superman Henry Cavill. In that flick, Cavill's character is on a search for his missing family, including his dad played by Willis. ("Die Hard" Blu-ray $59.99; "Cold" DVD $19.98, Blu-ray $24.99)
