Randy Savage's cause of death, drugs in system
Florida Highway Patrol officials today released some new information regarding the death last month of Randy Macho Man Savage.
An autopsy on savage concluded that his cause of death was "Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease," according to patrol spokesman Steve Gaskins. This would confirm reports that Savage died not from the injuries he sustained in his auto accident, but rather from a heart attack that led him to crashing his car.
"Manner of death is Natural," Gaskins wrote in a report.
Toxicology tests revealed that Savage had in his system at the time of his death acetaminophen (Tylenol), caffeine, Dihydrocodeine (a pain killer), Doxylamine (an antihistamine sedative) , Doxylamine metabolite, and Hydrocodone, a synthetic opioid.
He had a blood alcohol level of .031, which is below the legal limit in Florida of .08.
"No further information is available at this time regarding this investigation which remains open," Gaskins wrote.
