Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano has announced the reopening of the Tackapausha Museum and Preserve in Seaford. The reopening will take place at noon Saturday, April 21.

The museum offers exhibits with reptiles, owls and squirrels. Crafts and guided nature walks are also available. The museum also is promoting a new hands-on exhibit.

Tackapausha has been closed since December while undergoing renovations.

The museum’s director, Wendy Albin, was laid off after a countywide job cut eliminated more than 260 positions. Fans of the museum protested Albin’s firing in February and demanded the museum reopen.

Admission to Tackapausha Museum is $3 for adults and $2 for senior citizens and children under 5. The museum, located on Washington Avenue, will be open regularly Thursdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
