Some showers are forecast for Long Island this weekend while haze is expected to dissipate.

An air quality health advisory issued by state officials earlier this week was no longer in effect Friday.

Air quality in the tristate area was expected to be moderate, said Brian Ramsey, a National Weather Service meteorologist.

"Moderate is fine for everyone," he said. "It doesn’t look like it’s going to be too impactful in the next couple of days."

There's a slight chance of showers for Friday night, but don’t be surprised if conditions stay dry.

The service forecast a higher chance of rain Saturday afternoon through the evening as a cold front continues to move through Long Island. Highs will reach the upper 70s.

"We're just talking about general showers, maybe a rumble of thunder here and there, but not expecting severe weather," Ramsey said.

Sunday may also see scattered showers in the afternoon, and temperatures should increase to highs in the mid-70s. The service set a 50% chance of precipitation Sunday night into Monday.

A low pressure system will pass through on Monday, creating dry conditions, Ramsey said. The next chance of rain will be Tuesday afternoon.
