Long Islanders will be in for an "unsettled pattern" of weather this week, the National Weather Service said Monday afternoon.

A "frontal boundary" will remain in the area and "a series of disturbances will ride along the boundary..." the service said.

After a damp, foggy overnight, one of those disturbances is predicted to make for a wet Tuesday.

The chance for showers is about 60 percent Tuesday, with light winds, and up to three quarters of an inch of rain is possible, forecasters said.

Then there is the potential for precipitation every day through Thursday night, the service said.

Temperatures are expected to be cooler than normal due to the cloud cover, with highs generally in the 70s and lows in the 60s, the service said.

The unsettled pattern should break Friday, when sunny conditions take over through the weekend, with temperatures rising to the high 70s, the service said.
