It’s not the biggest Mets-related announcement of the week — that’s expected to be the NL Cy Young Award news Wednesday night — but it’s something.
Mets single-game tickets for 2019 go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, the team said Monday. That means every home game, including the half of the Subway Series against the Yankees (July 2-3) and the Mets’ 1969 50th anniversary celebration weekend (June 28-30 vs. Braves).
Other highlights of the Citi Field slate include the home opener April 4 against the Nationals and a trio of interleague series against AL Central teams: Minnesota Twins (April 9-10), Detroit Tigers (May 24-26) and Cleveland Indians (Aug. 20-22).
On the promotional calendar, Free T-Shirt Fridays (including two replica jersey giveaways) and Super Saturdays (various other giveaways) are back. Those promos come out of the gate strong, with the first home weekend of the year featuring a Todd Frazier WWE Day bobblehead (Saturday, April 6) and a Jacob deGrom bobblehead (Sunday, April 7).
On July 27, the Mets will give away a “Mr. Met on the Moon” bobblehead to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. In a coincidental Mets connection, this promotion was in the works before Brodie Van Wagenen — whose father-in-law was the late Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon — was hired as general manager.
