Phillies place Hamels on DL
The Philadelphia Phillies have placed All-Star left-hander Cole Hamels on the disabled list and recalled infielder Pete Orr from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
The move announced before Tuesday's game against the New York Mets is retroactive to Aug. 13 and will allow Hamels to come off the DL Sunday so he can make his next scheduled to start Monday at Cincinnati. Hamels has inflammation in his left shoulder.
The 2008 World Series MVP is 13-7 with a 2.62 ERA in 25 starts.
Orr has hit .238 with three RBIs in previous stints with the Phillies this season.
