Knicks’ Kristaps Porzingis No. 4 in NBA jersey sales
All right, it has been quantified. Kristaps Porzingis fever officially has gripped the NBA as the 7-3 Knicks rookie’s jersey is the fourth most popular in the league, even though he’s played in only 43 NBA games.
The league released Wednesday morning its sales figures from the NBA Store’s website from October 2015 through December 2015 and the rookie Porzingis ranked fourth behind only league MVP Stephen Curry of Golden State, Cleveland’s LeBron James and the Lakers’ Kobe Bryant.
Porzingis, who is averaging 14 points, eight rebounds and two blocks, is the first rookie to debut in the top five in sales since James was No. 1 and Carmelo Anthony, then with Denver, was No. 2 in December 2003.
Anthony’s jersey ranked No. 15 in sales on the list released Wednesday, making the Knicks one of four teams to have at least two players in the top 15.
