Hakeem Nicks isn't the only Giants wide receiver itching to get back into the end zone. Victor Cruz noted Wednesday that he hasn't had a touchdown since the Week 4 game in Kansas City, a six-game dry spell that is the longest of his career.

"They're going to start putting my salsa dance on the back of a milk carton pretty soon," Cruz said. "I gotta get out of that. It's coming, it's getting close. They're paying a lot of attention to me, man. It's been rather tough, but I think it's close."

Cruz caught three touchdown passes in the opening night loss to Dallas and has four on the season. Eli Manning's last six TD passes have gone to Rueben Randle. Nicks has none this season and none in the last 13 games he's played. His frustration was visible on the sideline in Sunday's win over the Packers.

Nicks (groin injury) didn't practice Wednesday. He was in the locker room briefly during media availability but did not answer questions.

Giant steps

DE Jason Pierre-Paul was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time in his career. He joins Lawrence Taylor (9) and Michael Strahan (5) as the only Giants to do it three-plus times . . . CB Corey Webster (ankle) returned to practice after several setbacks had kept him sidelined. "I guess I overdo it as far as rehabbing to rush myself to get back out there," he said.

"I've done that a couple of times, so hopefully I don't do it again." Webster couldn't say whether he'll play Sunday against the Cowboys . . . Pierre-Paul (shoulder), FB John Conner (hip) and CB Trumaine McBride (hip) did not practice on Wednesday . . . Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said DE DeMarcus Ware (thigh) worked mostly on the side in Wednesday's practice but he is expected to play Sunday.
