The Jets have released punter Braden Mann, the team announced Thursday.

Mann’s days as a Jet were numbered after they signed veteran free agent Thomas Morstead. The Jets tried trading Mann, but they found no takers.

A sixth-round pick in 2020, Mann averaged 46.9 yards per punt this past season, which ranked 17th in the NFL. Two of his punts were returned for touchdowns, including Marcus Jones’ game-winning 84-yard score in the closing seconds in New England.

Morstead, who is in his 15th NFL season, will handle the punting duties for the Jets now. He spent seven games with the Jets in 2021 while Mann was out with a knee injury. Morstead spent his first 12 with the Saints and was in Miami last season.
