Jets' Robert Saleh honors Farmingdale High School football coach Buddy Krumenacker after 300th win
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — At the end of his pre-practice availability on Friday, Jets coach Robert Saleh announced that Farmingdale High School football coach Buddy Krumenacker is his coach of the week for becoming the second coach in Long Island high school football history to win 300 games.
The Dalers outlasted Port Washington, 14-6, on Sept. 20 to get Krumenacker the milestone. Krumenacker, who graduated from Farmingdale in 1965, has been the program’s head coach since 1993.
Krumenacker, who has a career record of 300-101-11, has coached high school football on Long Island for 43 years, winning 223 games with Farmingdale and 77 with Hempstead. He and Bethpage’s Howie Vogts are the only coaches to win 300 games.
The Dalers (2-0) will play Massapequa (2-1) on Saturday in Nassau Conference I.
“We’re recognizing Buddy Krumenacker from Farmingdale High School out on Long Island,” said Saleh, who wore a Farmingdale Dalers T-shirt. “God bless you. Best of luck the rest of the season to him and the entire football team.”
Along with winning Saleh’s coach of the week award, Krumenacker received a $1,000 donation for the football team and the Dalers have been given an automatic bid to play in the Jets’ annual 11-ON tournament. The tournament consists of high school programs from Connecticut, New Jersey and New York that compete in a 7-on-7 tournament.
