Leaderman's average last season ranked sixth for East Islip. But this season she outperformed everyone, ending up with the top average on Long Island.
“Hard work has been the key,” Leaderman said. “When you really put your mind to something, you can make it happen.”
Leaderman’s 213.28 average was a 45-pin improvement from her freshman season. The sophomore helped East Islip win a second straight county championship and was a member of the Suffolk All-Star team that won a state championship.
FIRST TEAM
Brooke Andresen, East Islip, Jr.
Andresen’s 213.17 average ranked second on Long Island. Her 685 series and high game of 268 each ranked sixth in Suffolk.
Abby Buenaventura, MacArthur, Jr.
Buenaventura ranked second in Nassau with a 199.06 average. She had a high series of 666 and a high game of 248 for the county champions.
Dakota Collins, East Islip. Sr.
Collins was the only girls bowler on Long Island to roll a 300 this season. She ranked third in Suffolk with a 206.93 average and fourth with a high series of 695 series.
Trishna Desai, Smithtown, Soph.
Desai ranked fourth in Suffolk with a 201.50 average and eighth with a high game of 253. She helped the Suffolk All-Star team win a state championship by rolling a 1,357 series, which ranked fourth in the competition.
Kaylee Dwyer, Longwood, Soph.
Dwyer ranked sixth in Suffolk with a 196.64 average. Her high series of 714 ranked third and her high game of 255 was seventh.
Izzy Grillo, Comsewogue, Soph.
Grillo’s high series of 740 was the best on Long Island and her high game of 279 was second. The sophomore ranked seventh in Suffolk with a 193.80 average.
Ava Mazella, Longwood, Sr.
Mazella ranked fifth in Suffolk with a 200.21 average. She was fourth in the county with a high game of 277 and seventh with a high series of 667.
Amanda Morris, East Meadow, Sr.
Morris ranked first in Nassau and third on Long Island with a 208.14 average. She had a high series of 666 and a high game of 267.
Megan Reder, Seaford, Sr.
Reder ranked third in Nassau with a 194.11 average for the Division II county champions. She had a high series of 641 and was a member of the Nassau Division II All-Star team.
Coach of the Year: Chris Leahy, MacArthur
After consecutive second-place finishes, MacArthur averaged 695.30 this season and broke through to win the county championship.
