Catherine Karman scored the winning goal with 27 seconds left in the fourth quarter to break a tie at 11 as Port Washington defeated Syosset, 12-11, in Nassau Conference I girls lacrosse play on Monday. Karman scored seven goals and Margaret Cassidy added two goals.
Massapequa 18, Seaford 14: Grace Hoffman had four goals and five assists and Savanna Appleton added three goals and three assists to lead Massapequa (6-3).
Malverne/East Rockaway 14, Freeport 11: Nicole Buzzetta had six goals to lead Malverne/East Rockaway (6-0) in Nassau IV.
BOYS LACROSSE
Clarke 11, Uniondale 8: Everett Barsaukas had three goals and Justin Montez had two goals, including the go-ahead goal to give Clarke an 8-7 lead in Nassau III. Barsaukas and Wilmer Dubon followed Montez’s score with a goal each in the fourth quarter for Clarke (4-4).
BASEBALL
Division 5, Glen Cove 4: Aiden Susi had a pinch-hit, two-run, walk-off single with two outs in the seventh inning for Division (3-4) in Nassau AA-I. Jason Perez went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in the win.
MacArthur 4, East Meadow 2: Alex Darzano tossed a four-hitter with six strikeouts for MacArthur (6-1) in Nassau AA-I. Nick Albert launched a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to give MacArthur a 3-2 lead. Jack Aramini had three RBIs.
Garden City 1, South Side 0: Chris Desiderio tossed a two-hitter with nine strikeouts for Garden City (5-2) in Nassau AA-II. Evan Cabral had an RBI triple in the third inning to drive in the game’s only run.
Oceanside 2, Massapequa 1: Dylan Beirne tossed a four-hitter with six strikeouts for Oceanside (4-1) in Nassau AAA. Kyle Scheurer had a double and a run scored and threw out the would-be tying run at the plate for the game’s final out. Anthony Dinello went 2-for-3 with a home run for Massapequa (3-1).
Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK 3, Syosset 2: Jacob Kouba tossed a five-hitter with six strikeouts for Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK (1-3). Evan Frangas had a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to drive in the winning run.
Mineola 3, Valley Stream North 0: Jesse Kostulias tossed a three-hitter with 14 strikeouts, allowing only one runner to reach second base, for Mineola (4-3) in Nassau A-I.
Cold Spring Harbor 1, Carle Place 0: Carter Henvey’s single in the top of the first inning drove in Connor Sheridan for what proved to be the winning run for Cold Spring Harbor (2-3-1) in Nassau B. Ryan McCarey tossed a four-hitter with three strikeouts in the win.
SOFTBALL
Carle Place 1, Garden City 0: Isabella Roman had the winning RBI double in the top of the eighth inning for Carle Place (4-3) in a Nassau III/IV crossover. Marissa Nosovitch had 17 strikeouts in the win.
Wheatley 7, Locust Valley 1: Jess Siskand tossed a one-hitter with seven strikeouts to lead Wheatley (5-3) in a Nassau V/VI crossover.
Baldwin 5, Hicksville 4: Lilly Duet had a winning three-run double in the top of the sixth inning for Baldwin (5-2) in non-league. Amanda Aguiluz sealed the win in the bottom of the seventh inning, making an over-the-shoulder catch at the warning track to deny the tying run.
FLAG FOOTBALL
Smithtown 6, Commack 2: Layla Carbonara threw the winning 11-yard touchdown pass to Dakota Horton with 7:32 left for Smithtown (5-3-1) in Suffolk I.
Longwood 36, Lindenhurst 6: Delaney Israel completed 24 of 30 passes for 328 yards and four touchdowns to lead Longwood (5-2) in Suffolk I. Giselle Harris scored three total touchdowns in the win.
