Mitch Korn’s departure as the Islanders' director of goaltending for the same post with the Predators — where he’s reunited with Barry Trotz — led to a quick restructuring within the organization.
The Islanders announced on Thursday Chris Terreri has been promoted after six seasons as goalie coach for their AHL affiliate in Bridgeport to fill Korn’s role, though with the slightly altered title as director of goaltending development and scouting.
Sergei Naumovs, who served as Ilya Sorokin’s goalie coach from 2018-20 in the KHL, was hired as Bridgeport’s goalie coach. Under Naumovs in 2019, Sorokin was named the KHL’s playoff MVP as CSKA Moscow won the league’s championship. During his playing career, Naumovs was a member of the Latvian Olympic squad in 2002, 2006 and 2010.
The team also announced Piero Greco will return for a seventh season as the Islanders' goalie coach.
The Predators on Wednesday announced Korn’s hiring as that organization’s director of goaltending. Trotz, fired as the Islanders coach in 2022, is entering his second season as the Predators' general manager.
