How are Newsday's 2023 All-Long Island girls lacrosse selections faring in their first season in Division I?
We checked in on the Division I women's lacrosse scene to see how our local players are performing. Here's a look at how Newsday's 2023 All Long Island players are faring so far at the next level:
Kylee Colbert, Midfield, Boston College (North Shore): The 2023 Newsday Player of the Year has scored four goals this season at Boston College, including two against Robert Morris. She was the second-leading scorer in Nassau last year, finishing with 101 goals.
Lacey Downey, Midfield, Boston College (West Babylon): The 2023 Newsday Suffolk Player of the Year totaled 61 goals and 42 assists last season. As a freshman at Boston College, she’s played in two games and scored one goal against Robert Morris.
Madison Alaimo, Attack, University of Virginia (Wantagh): She has 10 goals and 10 assists this season, including a four-goal game against Cornell. Alaimo scored 64 goals and had 56 assists her senior season at Wantagh.
GraceAnn Leonard, Midfield, North Carolina (Shoreham-Wading River): The midfielder has eight goals and two assists this season, and scored two goals in North Carolina's 19-10 win over No. 12 Florida. She totaled 45 points last season (30 goals, 15 assists).
Delaney Radin, Attack, Florida (Long Beach): Radin has seen action in four games this season and has scored four goals. She has the most assists (three) on the team among freshmen. Last year, she led Long Island in points (147).
Kate Timarky, Attack, Notre Dame (Middle Country): Timarky has four goals this season for the Fighting Irish. She finished last season with 64 goals and 30 assists.
Katie Clare, Midfield, Yale University (Bayport-Blue Point): The Newsday All Long Island second-team selection has scored seven goals this season, including four against Quinnipiac. She finished her final season at Bayport-Blue Point with 30 goals and six assists, including three goals in their 13-5 state championship win over John Jay.
Taylor Hoss, Attack, Johns Hopkins (Sayville): The Newsday All Long Island second-team selection finished her final season at Sayville with 71 points (41 goals and 30 assists). She has five goals this season, including a three-goal game against Vanderbilt.
Paris Panagopoulos, Midfield, Yale University (Bayport-Blue Point): The Newsday All Long Island second team pick led Nassau in scoring with 103 goals. She had a two-goal game against Quinnipiac and has three goals this season.
Payton Tini, Midfield, Rutgers (Locust Valley): The Newsday All Long Island second-team selection finished with 79 goals and 44 assists as a senior. She has 11 goals and eight assists at Rutgers.
