Is it one cut? Or two? And is it on both feet?

The injury that is keeping Serena Williams out of the U.S. Open apparently isn't all that clear cut.

Defending U.S. Open champ Kim Clijsters said today that the injury that is keeping Williams out of the open this year is on both her feet. The injury was suffered in a German restaurant sometime shortly after Wimbledon and involved a broken glass. Despite the injury, Williams did manage to play an exhibition against Clijsters in Belgium after Wimbledon. After winning her first-round match yesterday at the U.S. Open, Clijsters was asked about Williams.

"I saw the injury, so it's not something she's making up," said Clijsters, who beat Greta Arn of Hungary, 6-0, 7-5. "It's not that it's a small cut or anything."

Clijsters was asked if the cut was on the bottom or top of Williams' feet.

Said Clijsters: "Both, both feet."

All the media has been told that the top-ranked Williams is out because of a cut foot.
