Long Island forecast: Wet weather week with possible overnight thunderstorms

Rain, storms and fog: The National Weather Service is calling for a wet weather week, with showers predicted at some point every day between now and Saturday.
There could be a small window for some sunshine Thursday, the weather service said, before possibly more rain moves in that night.
Monday brought between one and two inches of heavy rain and patchy fog. Thunderstorms that circulated around Long Island Monday afternoon could return after 11 p.m. the weather service said. Winds could gust up to 28 mph overnight.
Tuesday, there's a 90% chance for similar conditions, with possible storms, patchy fog, and more heavy rain through nightfall. Wednesday afternoon and Friday, rain is in the forecast again but with lesser chances for showers and storms.
The weather service said Long Island could catch a break during the day Thursday, when mostly sunny skies could wander through. But there is a 50% chance of rain Thursday night and Friday carries a 50% chance of showers most of the day.
Temperatures all
week will be moderate — with daytime temperatures mostly in the 60s; nighttime temperatures are expected to be in the mid-50s.There's a small craft advisory in effect for all Atlantic Ocean waters, from Sandy Hook, New Jersey, to Montauk Point. Between Sandy Hook and Fire Island Inlet, the weather service said the advisory will be if effect from 6 p.m. Monday through 6 p.m. Tuesday. Between Fire Island Inlet and Montauk the advisory goes into effect at 2 p.m. Monday and lasts through 6 p.m. Tuesday.
