Centereach: Diverse food options, incoming pickleball court, proximity to SBU draw buyers

THE SCOOP Once called West Middle Island, Centereach shares much of its history and many amenities with surrounding communities.
Nestled between Nesconset, Selden and Lake Grove, and an easy drive to Stony Brook University, it's also close to Smith Haven Mall.
"Centereach is coming into its own," said Lenore Paprocky, president of The Greater Middle Country Chamber of Commerce and director of business development at Synergy Wealth Strategies. "It's thriving."

Paprocky also touted an "exploding" cultural experience, referencing especially the newly expanded food scene at the recently rebuilt New Village Plaza. She attended a recent ribbon cutting there for a new Peruvian/Japanese restaurant, Pisco Nikkei. The plaza also has German Doner Kebab, Tang Yun Noodle House and French-Asian bakery Tous Les Jours, plus a new food market, Gala Fresh.
"It was once abandoned; an eyesore," Paprocky said.

In addition to the ethnic food emergence, Centereach is also becoming a place for recreational fun, including a new pickleball court on its way in the old Odd Lots building, she noted.
Another revival in the community is the renovated Middle Country Library, including the new Innovation Space, where one can print 3D art, record in the professionally equipped podcasting room or use the embroidery/sewing machine.
"It serves as a free resource for local businesses," she said.
