Northport native Patti LuPone, who was last seen on Broadway two years ago in the musical "Company," will be in good company when she returns to the Great White Way later this year.

LuPone will co-star with Mia Farrow in a new comedy called "The Roommate," which is set to begin previews at the Booth Theatre on Aug. 29 before opening on Sept. 12. Jen Silverman's "Odd Couple"-like play centers on two older women with very different personalities and lifestyles who end up sharing an apartment.

"It’s always a big decision to return to the stage, and I certainly had no intention of being back on Broadway so fast," said four-time Tony Award winner LuPone, 75, in a statement, "But when I read the play and heard Mia was attached, it became the easiest decision of my life. I’ve always been a fan of Mia’s work and she is a treasured friend. We’re going to have a blast.”

Farrow, 79, who last appeared on Broadway in a revival of "Love Letters" in 2014, was equally excited about the prospect of working with LuPone. " 'The Roommate' is funny, quirky and brilliantly written, and when I learned that Patti LuPone was interested in doing it, how could I resist? She is, of course, a Broadway icon without parallel and we have been friends for decades," she said in a statement.

Tony winner Jack O'Brien, who helmed last year's musical "Shucked," is set to direct. For tickets, go to theroommatebway.com.
