TV on DVD: In appreciation of Bernie Mac
I AIN'T SCARED OF YOU: A TRIBUTE TO BERNIE MAC
Program Emotional portrait of the late Chicago comic's life and work features his wife and daughter, plus insights from friends/colleagues Chris Rock, Don Cheadle, D.L. Hughley, Angela Bassett, Carl Reiner, many others. Clips range from Mac's career-making "Def Comedy Jam" set (hence the DVD title) to his self-named Fox sitcom and big-screen success. Cameron Diaz nails his comedy -- "What's so funny about his humor is, he tells the truth" -- while director Steven Soderbergh ("Ocean's Eleven") sums up the man: "The molecules shifted in a really good way when he was around." This Comedy Central hour isn't near long enough.
Extras Warm backstage footage, more recollections.
