Models backstage at Charlotte Ronson's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week show looked fresh and bright under the direction of Sephora's Gilbert Soliz Friday, though the style was not typical Ronson.

"In the past, the Charlotte Ronson girl has been more edgy and grungy," said Soliz. "This collection is more refined and polished."

Lips were done in a bright red-orange, while eyes were dusted with lavender.

"There's a lot of use of '70s-inspired color," said Soliz, who noted that many of the products used were from Ronson's line.

For the rest of us non-models, Soliz recommends not overdoing it when it comes to cosmetics.

"Keep it classic," he said. "Guys don't like too much makeup. Pick one feature to play up; I say for Valentine's Day go for the lips for a look that's feminine and flirty."
