Which Long Island school districts are gaining or losing state aid?

While Long Island school districts will be receiving an additional $157 million in state aid under an agreement reached this week between the governor and the State Legislature, that 6.7 percent overall increase means different things for different districts.
Springs, for example, will see its aid increase more than 21 percent, the largest on Long Island. But it's a small district where the $289,034 in additional state help brings their overall aid to $1,643,889. A larger district, Freeport, will be getting a smaller percentage increase, 12.7 percent, but a bigger dollar amount -- an additional $7 million, bringing their total to more than $55 million.
Brentwood has the biggest dollar amount increase -- $9 million -- but that represents a 4.25 percent increase over the $213,366,845 the district received last year.
And three districts are to get less aid in the agreement: Merrick down $83,772 (1.59%), Island Park down 63,989 (2.81 percent) and East Quogue down $5,504 or one half of one percent.
