Islip to vote on $25G contract for MacArthur Airport consulting from John Jamotta Consulting
The Islip Town Board at its first business meeting of the year Wednesday is scheduled to vote on a number of expenditures, including a $25,000 consulting contract for the town’s Long Island MacArthur Airport.
The contract is with John Jamotta Consulting, LLC, “a professional consulting firm with public and private experience that is capable of serving the Town of Islip and airport administrators to develop strategies that will fulfill the goal of increasing the public’s use” of the town-owned airport in Ronkonkoma, according to the resolution.
The contract, not to exceed $25,000, would be used for services to produce operational analysis and demand forecasting for passenger services at the airport, as needed over a period of 12 months, the resolution states.
The town has hired several consultants over the past two years in an effort to boost the struggling airport’s bottom line and increase its regional popularity after losing a number of airlines and flights. The airport is considered by town officials to be “a focal point of the Town of Islip,” while the “success of the airport is instrumental in the growth and economy of the region at large,” the resolution states. The town is looking to “improve the financial stability of the airport by promoting new opportunities for growth.”
Wednesday’s meeting will be the first for Mary Kate Mullen, a Conservative Party member who was elected to the town board in November. She fills seat left by Anthony Senft, the board’s only conservative member at the time, who was elected to be a Suffolk County District Court judge. The board is to vote to appoint Mullen on several boards, including Foreign Trade Zone, Industrial Development Agency and Economic Development Corporation.
