A pool company worker died on the job when he became trapped under a forklift in Rocky Point Thursday afternoon, Suffolk police said.
Josue Rodriguez, 21, of Bellport, was killed about 4:30 p.m. at the Swim King location on Route 25A when the machine he was operating fell on its side, pinning him under the roof, police said.
Homicide detectives classified the death as an accident, but have notified the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration, which investigates workplace accidents.
Other details were not immediately available.
Swim King officials could not be reached Thursday.
Rodriguez was taken to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy will be conducted by the Suffolk County medical examiner’s office, police said.
