Yale slay suspect was controlling, ex-girlfriend says
The woman who says she is an ex-girlfriend of the man jailed in the strangulation of a Yale graduate student said Wednesday he became so menacing after she dumped him that she needed a police escort to and from high school.
Jessica Delrocco said in a television interview that she broke up with Raymond Clark III six years ago because he suddenly started ordering her around, telling her what to wear, where to go and who to associate with.
" 'Don't go here and don't be friends with these boys. . . . You're talking too much,' " Clark would say, Delrocco told Diane Sawyer on ABC's "Good Morning America."
After the breakup, Clark repeatedly threatened her, Delrocco said, so police escorted her to and from school for a period of time.
Clark was arrested last week on a murder charge, accused of choking Yale bride-to-be Annie Le and hiding her body behind a wall in the off-campus research lab where they worked.
He is jailed on $3 million bond.
Delrocco said that during her relationship with Clark at Branford High School in Connecticut, Clark would "fly off the handle," hitting, shouting and grabbing her.
Delrocco didn't return messages left by Newsday seeking comment, and Clark's public defender, Joseph Lopez, couldn't be immediately reached for comment.
