BACKGROUND
- Matthews, 69, of Northport, is running on the Democratic, Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election.
- He has been District Court judge, 3rd District, in the Town of Huntington since 2015, and has been an acting Suffolk County Court judge in Riverhead since 2019.
- He was Village of Northport attorney from 2004 to 2014.
- From 1998 to 2002, Matthews was the Huntington Town attorney, and from 2002 to 2014 he was special counsel to the town’s Zoning Board of Appeals.
- He received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University in 1977 and his law degree from St. John's University School of Law in 1982. Matthews was admitted in 1983 to the New York State bar, Appellate Division Department of Admission: 2nd.
