BACKGROUND

  • Hensley, 63, of East Northport, is running on the Democratic, Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election.
  • Hensley is a District Court judge and acting Supreme Court justice in Riverhead.
  • He was appointed to fill a judicial vacancy in District Court in June 2001 by Suffolk County Executive Robert Gaffney. He was elected to the bench that November.
  • Hensley was a law clerk for Judge James Hudson from January 2000 until July 2002.
  • From January 1999 to January 2001, he was a law clerk for State Supreme Court Justice Leonard B. Austin.
  • Hensley received his undergraduate degree from the University at Albany in 1983, and his law degree from SUNY at Buffalo, Faculty of Law and Jurisprudence. Hensley was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1987.
